Those who love snow shoe trekking are in for a real treat in Abondance. Follow the ‘découverte familiale’ signs which lead you along 4 signposted trails leading you to various wonders of the local Savoy architechtural heritage or through the delights of mother nature. The trails offer you between two to three hours of snow shoeing, taking you up several hundreds of metres in altitude.

Here are three ideas for hikes:

Chapel and chalet route
Walk on the sunny side of the valley in the footsteps of forest labourers and devout worshippers, from chapel to chapel, from farms to mountain chalets.

Essert discovery route
Make your ascent in the bubble lift and walk down on snowshoes. An ideal way to accompany budding young ski champions! And don’t forget to stop off and take a well-earned break on the terrace of a mountain restaurant.

« l’envers du décor » route : the valley’s forests and countryside
The mysterious atmosphere of the forest-clad side of the valley gives hikers the chance to appreciate moments when gaps open up in the trees to give you stunning views over the valley below.
