Chapels and dwellings route
On the sunny side of the valley, walk in the footsteps of forest labourers and devout worshippers, from chapel to chapel, from farm to mountain pasture land.

Essert area discovery route.
Go up in the bubble lift and come back down on snowshoes. An ideal way to accompany budding young skie champions! And don’t forget to take a well–earned break, sitting on the terrace of a mountain restaurant…

« l’envers du décor » route : the valley’s forests and countryside
The mysterious atmosphere of the forest-clad side of the valley gives hikers the chance to appreciate breaches in the landscape from where there are stunning views over the valley below.

Ask for the guide book of footpaths in the Abondance valley: it groups together more than 30 different circuits from Abondance to Morgins (in Switzerland) including those in Châtel and la Chapelle d’Abondance. The guide book costs 2€ and is on sale in the Abondance Tourist Office and sports shops.

In order to rent the appropriate equipment for snowshoe trekking, visit the pros in Abondance’s sportshops.

A weekly programme of day-trips and half-day trips is organised by snowshoe guides, who will set you off on the right foot, and lead you to discover so much more.
