You might bump into local farmers and their flocks or herds as you hike across the far-reaching pastures in the Abondance valley. You can walk and improve your general knowledge thanks to themed footpaths based on fauna (‘in the chamois’ tracks) and local religious heritage (chapels and oratories footpath). Set out to bag one of the summits that dominate the valley: Mont de Grange (2433m), Cornettes de Bise (2432m), the ridges of Mont Chauffé (2000m), Pic de la Corne (2084m)… And to keep you company during your escapades, there are practical guides that are simple to use: - Map of the Portes du Soleil’s footpaths and bridle paths: this simplified map draws together all marked paths throughout the 14 resorts with a key indicating the time taken between different points.
