Permanent Exhibition

The Maison du Val d’Abondance invites you to discover the multiple facets of the valley: the landscapes born from the formation of the Alps and the fauna and flora that give our mountains their wonderful treasures. You’ll also discover more about the farming life and rhythms over the seasons, with the seasonal migration of the “Abondance” cows up to summer pastures.

From start to finish, the "Abondance" cheese making techniques will be explained to you.

You’ll be able to see the slow maturation process of the round Abondance cheeses through a window that opens into the cellar.

A film: a very real account of the farmers’ daily life and working conditions in the Abondance valley. The farmers not only explain the enjoyable aspects of their work, but also the challenges of  farming in the mountains.

Temporary Exhibition

« Summer pastures – a tradition of the future This original and interactive exhibition will take you on an adventure through the summer pastures where the farmers contribute to the protection of the environment and landscape, thanks to their work and their animals (cows, sheep and goats).

It is also possible to book a guided tour, with or without a tasting session, for a minimum of 10 people.
All the themes you can discover alone will be covered in detail by our professional tour guides.

It is possible to use a Duo-Ticket combined with a visit of Abondance's Abbey.  This Duo ticket includes:

• A guided tour of Abondance’s Abbey
• The guided tour of the Mason du Val d’Abondance, together with "Abondance" cheese tasting and a glass of white Savoyard wine or local apple juice.

The Maison du Val d’Abondance has a parking lot that is big enough for large buses to park.

There is also a lift to cater for handicapped people.

For children, at the end of the visit, either an educational slideshow is shown or a quizz about the visit is held.
All through the year, the Maison du Val d’Abondance organises events and activities for children aged 5 to 10yrs. Bookings should be made in advance:
- Your own puzzle (for 5 to 7yr olds): imagine the most beautiful “Abondance” cow and make your own puzzle.
- A funny little cow (for 6 to 10yr olds): Make your own cow key hook, and take it home with you.
